Sports

At KIU Academy, club activities have become a wonderful experience for many of the students. Moreover, it means the students can effectively learn positive character traits such as teamwork, discipline, and perseverance through sports.

Various sports such as baseball, volleyball, and soccer are available. Unlike a physical education class, students can choose whether or not to participate in a particular sports club. A participation fee, used to encourage commitment and defray some costs, is required. Sports teams are divided into middle school (6th - 8th grade) and high school (9th - 12th grade). Separate teams are also available for boys and girls.

The middle school teams practice twice a week. The high school sports teams practice three times per week. Competitions with other international schools are held. So far, matches have been played against schools such as Canadian Academy (Kobe), Marist Brothers International School (Kobe), Osaka International School (Minoo), and Nagoya International School (Nagoya).

Unlike the club activities of the school in Japan, KIU Academy offers a different sport each season.

The KIU Academy team emblem is the Flames and the school colors are blue and white. Our current athletic director is Gregg Hutton.
