Employment - Current Positions

Our school is in the process of growing as an educational institution. We are looking for Christian school personnel who are willing to work with us to fulfill our school vision: "To be the leader in quality bilingual education based on Christian principles."

Instruction Positions

Kyoto International University & KIU Academy, a Christian school located in Kyotanabe, Kyoto Prefecture in Japan, is now looking for candidates for full-time and part-time teaching positions that will start in April 2012. All candidates must be born-again Christians who accept the school´s statement of faith and are either members of, or are regularly attending, a Protestant, Evangelical Christian church.

Teaching staff for the following subjects:

  • Secondary school English Language Arts (ELA)
  • Secondary school English as a Second Language (ESL)
  • Secondary school Social Studies (English)
  • Secondary school Science (English)
  • Secondary school Math (English)
  • Secondary school Math (Japanese)
  • Secondary school Kokugo
  • Secondary school level Japanese as a Second Language (JSL) (Part-time*)
    • Classes scheduled between 9:00 to 15:30
    • At least two hours a day from Monday to Friday
    • Saturday*, Sunday & National Holidays are off
      (*a few Saturdays throughout the year there are some school events that will have to be attended)
    • School breaks are vacations (summer, winter and spring)
    • For Part-time position transportation cost is provided
    • Hourly salary: depends on education qualifications and years of experience
    • Training for position would be in last two weeks of March of 2011 (tentative)
    • There is a possibility for a full-time position for Kokugo/ JSL for the teacher will the ability to teach both. For the JSL class a certain amount of English will be required. Private School Insurance and Pension program provided
    • For Full-time position Transportation cost is not provided

      ** For non-Japanese teacher proper visa is required to work

Interview process:

  1. Fill out application form completely and send the Office of Business Administration
  2. First interview: Office staff – with Mr. Barrera; Teaching staff – with Principal of school: Mr. Myers
  3. Recommendation from school administration to the school board

Although being bilingual in English and Japanese is helpful, it is not essential. However, all applicants must be able to communicate in English. All candidates should have a teaching degree (experience in education and teacher certificate preferable) and are eligible for Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) certification*. Steadily growing in size as an academic institute, we are in need of Christian professionals who are willing to make a commitment to work with us in this important ministry. Skills development training for staff is provided within our friendly, professional and stable working environment. Salary compensation will be based on educational background, professional credentials and experience. For applicants who will require working visa sponsorship (which can take 6-8 weeks to complete), applications need to be submitted as soon as possible. Applications are kept on file for one year.
