Professional Biography
Peter Blocksom is the Founder and President of the Kyoto International University (KIU) organization. The KIU organization provides educational services for students’ grades 1 – 12 (academy) and offers 2-year and 4-year degrees (university).
Under Blocksom’s leadership, the academy has prepared and positioned Japanese and international students for success both inside and outside Japan. In spring 2011, the academy is expected to be accredited through the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). Currently, Mr. Blocksom is leading a study to evaluate the feasibility of a Finnish-style preschool. There are about 210 students presently attending the academy.
As a lifelong educator, Blocksom understands that each student has individualized educational goals. During the short history of the university, Blocksom has been instrumental in developing the international studies program (government) and helping students achieve their higher education goals in Japan as well as overseas. Currently, there are about 35 students enrolled in university classes.

Service / Interests
Peter Blocksom serves as a Kyoto International University organization board member and as a pastor for International Chapel Ministries. He is also a frequent speaker at Christian educational conferences and events as well as workshops and seminars geared toward families. He enjoys youth ministry activities and has spearheaded efforts to develop a quality athletic program at KIU academy. He has resided with his wife and four sons in western Japan for over 30 years.
