Professional Biography

Eliani Ardi is a Professor of Science at Kyoto International University.  Since joining KIU in 2006, she has made significant contributions to the development of the science and math program.  Her teaching interests are in the area of physics, astronomy, calculus and statistics.  Dr. Ardi is also a highly accomplished and recognized researcher as well as guest speaker. Her research interests relate to numerical simulations on the dynamics of star clusters, the formation of intermediate mass black holes, and the depletion of dark matter from the center of star clusters. Dr Ardi has published articles in more than 20 refereed international journals and conference proceedings and has over 55 citations (as of 2009).  Dr. Ardi also has many honors, including but not limited to, a JSPS Fellowship, a Japan Ministry of Education Scholarship and the Asahi Glass Foundation research grant.  She regularly delivers public lectures on the 'Stars and Sky' program.

Industry Involvement

Dr. Ardi is an active member of GRAPE - large scale simulation project of the Center for Computational Astrophysics Japan.  She has previously served as an Astronomy lecturer at Bandung Institute of Technology as well as a guest researcher in Astronomisches Rechen Institute, Heidelberg.  She performed her postdoctoral research at the Yukawa Institute of Theoretical Astrophysics.

Service / Interests

Dr. Ardi encourages students to use their education not only perform well in academics but to serve in ministry. She serves, along with her husband, as a choir member and Sunday school teacher at the Kyoto Christian Fellowship Center (Japan Evangelical Church).  Besides reading, Dr. Ardi loves dancing, especially Balinese and Javanese dance and enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter.
